It’s likely that travelling abroad is one of many things on your bucket list. Maybe you’re planning that once-in-a-lifetime dream vacation or a romantic honeymoon. Or maybe visiting a foreign country is entirely different for you—you have a job that requires travel, whether it involves negotiating with new clients or serving your country abroad. No matter what you’re leaving the U.S. for, we can probably all agree that travelling can be an exhilarating, albeit sometimes stressful, experience.

But just because you’ve crossed this border or that, doesn’t mean you’ve put your life on hold back home. There may still be contracts to sign or deeds to hand over. Perhaps you’ll be staying abroad for more than a two-week getaway and want to sign over a Power of Attorney. All of these documents will need a notary public to witness the signing. And now it’s time to figure out how to make that happen. Where do I get a document notarized when I’m abroad? How and where to find a notary? How do I get to it? How much time will the travel take? Do I bring a hardcopy of my contract? Where can I get it printed?

Hours upon hours can be spent and many nights wasted awake trying to find the answers, when all you really need is a computer, a webcam, and just a few minutes. NotaryCam, our online signing room, has gotten rid of the hassles of finding a notary abroad for dozens of people.

These are examples of some of the most recent issues NotaryCam has resolved:

  • A United States law firm needed to file an affidavit in court while their client was in China for corporate responsibilities. With only a 24 hour deadline on the affidavit, it would have been impossible to file it on time with their client abroad. NotaryCam provided a solution to this complex problem, all within only 30 minutes.
  • A United States business man was travelling in Paris and needed to have a Power of Attorney notarized for his wife. They were in the process of closing on their property and without NotaryCam, he would have had to set an appointment with the Embassy or Consulate, and wait at least one week for the meeting to take place. Had he waited for the opening at the consular office, his $200,000 closing would have been cancelled.
  • A United States carpenter was opening a business in Thailand when he needed a Power of Attorney for his mother. This called for a three hour train ride (each way) to the Consulate. NotaryCam immediately solved his pain and allowed him to concentrate on building his business, rather than spending six long hours en route to, and from, the closest U.S. Notary.
  • A soldier deployed overseas needed to execute and notarize a Power of Attorney in order to refinance his home back in North Carolina. The lender required the Power of Attorney within two days or risk losing his great interest rate. NotaryCam allowed this soldier to keep his rate, saving his family over $100,000 within 15 years.

At NotaryCam, you easily sign in and upload the document you need to have notarized, before being connected to a live notary public. They’ll verify it’s you and have you electronically Sign your document. Once the notary public has eNotarized this signature, you’ll be on your way to sightseeing in Barcelona or networking in Shanghai once more, all in a matter of minutes.
